In México, 21% of students attend post-
secondary institutes of learning. This wealthy country values education for the affluent, but the young people from poor backgrounds do not enjoy such a benefit or opportunity.

» PROMESA Achievement Program
Querétaro, México

PROMESA Achievement Project provides a high-standard private school education to students from impoverished backgrounds who need a chance to stand out as the exceptional young people that they are.

An independent project operated and managed by CEDAR, PROMESA marked the beginning of CEDAR Foundation's international work. CEDAR identified several of this city's most exceptional children, many of them from orphanages and the street. Their options for development were scarce and their support systems frequently non-existent, but their drive to learn and grow beyond their circumstance shone like a beam of optimism.

Today, enrolled in the prestigious Collegio Diego Olvera Estrada, the CEDAR scholars prove each day that they belong in a high opportunity environment. Soon, many will have graduated to university. Knowing this, today excited talk of being doctors, lawyers, teachers and journalists dominates their conversations.

In a few short years, these young people have moved from a state of social marginalization to one of inclusion, with a quality future ahead. Their walk out of poverty is beginning to feel like a race.

CEDAR Foundation: International's collective heart is moved by the determination and intelligence of its Querétaro students.

» Senderos Orphanage & Niños Y Niñas De México Support Facility
Querétaro, México

Senderos Orphanage for Girls is a rare caring facility for 20 girls who have been abandoned, separated or removed from their families. The opportunity to undertake the construction of a lovely addition to the home that would double its living capacity was an exciting privilege.

Niños Y Niñas De Mxico, a facility for the recreation, health and education of the children of the street women of Querétaro, was a labour of love for CEDAR.

Alarmed by the level of poverty in such a wealthy country and with such a dearth of quality health and educational programming available, CEDAR Foundation: International was compelled to demonstrate with actual buildings, that the poor children of México needed the recognition and respect that would allow them to flourish under proper care and teaching and guidance.

Two buildings were constructed to represent the simple fact that the poor and the vulnerable children of that country had potential for growth and achievement. The lovely new home for the Senderos organization allowed for a doubling of the capacity in this rare, caring orphanage.

The extraordinary facility for Niños Y Niñas de México offered, for the first time, an opportunity for comprehensive care, health intervention, social development, nutrition, education and support for the children of the street-vendors in the city.

By funding these important building projects, CEDAR Foundation: International hopes to demonstrate its respect for the country's poor and serve as a source of inspiration for change.
