Undoubtedly in the developing world, social problems abound - and are always linked together. Poverty, disease and the lack of human rights create a triumvirate of social ills that can limit the development of people and of the nation. EDUCATION is the remedy to all these issues - but improving education standards for the millions of poor is a long, difficult and costly process - but the best Social Investment strategy ever!
CEDAR Foundation's history in Canada, Mexico, USA, Kenya and South Africa speaks to our dedication to this principle. That is why the eventual goal for all CSI (CEDAR Scholars International) is a high-quality, post-secondary education, obtained through college or university graduation. The investment pay-offs are obvious - job opportunities, life choices, expansion of an informed knowledgeable population, the potential for new, ethical leadership, establishment of pride in heritage and culture, optimism and growth in the positive spirit that drives innovation and problem-solving.
Poverty and despair have blanketed many parts of the planet. While CEDAR Foundation cannot "fix" it all, there is great satisfaction in joining with other amazingly committed indviduals and groups who are focusing on the same Social Investment goals.
