CEDAR Foundation commits to the support and full funding of its 35 Promesa Scholars throughout their private school education and then through college/university.

PROMESA

CEDAR Foundation established the PROMESA programme in Querétaro, Mexico in 2005 because no quality development or enrichment programmes for poor children existed there. To that socially stratified culture the notion of educating the poor, especially through college/university is unheard of and very threatening - the poor comprise the under paid labourers and the huge population of home servants. Quality education would arm them against abuse, human rights violations and exploitation. This is not a popular or accepted part of Mexican life.

Therefore CEDAR Foundation's programme of physical, academic, social and emotional strengthening of some of the nation's most vulnerable, is a challenging endeavour. However, the 35 CEDAR Scholars International, who are now attending a high-quality private school (and where several are the top academic and social leaders in the school) are an exciting group of potential young leaders. Soon, they will be graduating into colleges/universities to begin the next stage of their development. CEDAR Foundation has great pride in and hopefulness for these bright spirits.
